John and Mackenzi's National Portrait Gallery Engagement Session in DC

I simply adore the way these two look at each other. When I told John and Mackenzi at the beginning of the engagement session to have fun and “generally be in love with each other,” they grinned and said it wouldn’t be a problem at all. True to their word, the entire morning was filled with smiles, laughter, kissing, and generally being in love. 🙂

Photographing in DC was both exciting and challenging. We tried to hit up CityCenterDC and the National Portrait Gallery in the morning when there would be the least amount of foot traffic. While we still had to dodge some crowds, overall the happy couple got many warm wishes and accommodations from the bystanders. If I could roam DC with John and Mackenzi again, I would do it in a heartbeat – minus the sweltering Virginia humidity at the end!
